The final chapter in Elinor Sturgeon's epic story picks up right where the second left off. Elinor has won the Vokkna War, but it took a war for her to discover the Rttkknn were never the real villains. The Qualittian governor's evil plot has been exposed, but now Elinor and Whitt must work together to gain the confidence of the Qualittian populace, and earn their vote in the upcoming government elections. On top of everything, Elinor's adopted Harllukna child needs constant attention, and Les is busy finding the rest of the Kara Warriors a post-war purpose. Everyone is still reeling from the war, but the real fight has just begun. They have to win over the public in order to save the planet, but public support is all about appearances and formality on Qualittia. Elinor will have to learn how to live with the creatures she fought to save.
