“I do not know his name, I do not know who he is, and I do not know why he has killed me.” Superheroes survive on the goodwill of the people. It’s not exactly illegal to be an Altered– those given abilities by a mutative virus called the Salient– but it means a life of secrecy. Jake likes to consider himself a normal teenager. His goal for summer is getting a job and hanging out with Andres, his best friend. But that’s before he gets infected by the Salient.
