The book aims to explore in depth the mechanisms which could empower society and the threats it faces nowadays. The author starts by analyzing the rise of populism, as well as by defining this puzzling concept, which has been contested, but whose impact in society is difficult to overemphasize. The role of the governments is explored, as well as the crisis which they are facing as a consequence of the rise of digitalization and also due to failed policies. Consequently, the author analyses the concept of representation and proposes some mechanisms which could tackle this trouble, perceived by some citizens and which makes them support populisms.
