Set in small town America, The Rivalry That Will Never Die takes the reader on a journey back in time, back to those days before the electronic revolution (television, followed by a succession of electronic devices). The story is a return to an era when taking a rounded piece of wood and attempting to hit a more or less round sphere 2.86 to 2.94 inches in diameter coming toward you at between 40 and 60 m.p.h. was indeed the mark of great skill. The idea of going to the 103rd level of a video game had not even been born. It was a time when neighbors spent time together at the ball field. Sure, it was a time when friendships could be tested if the sons wound up as members of opposing teams. Even that test faded away, however, when the All-Stars of one area faced the All-Stars from another area.
