The Rooster That Would Not Crow is a story of a rooster's struggle with insecurity and how he overcomes it and gains confidence. This book is good for children of all ages and allows parents to encourage their child that they each have a unique and important role in life. The idea was hatched when my daughter. Christian, who started a new flock of Easter Egger chicks in North Carolina, started sharing some of her experiences with me. As the flock grew older, she discovered that one of them was a rooster. She named him Roo. Roo’s first attempts at crowing came out as croaks and squeaks, and we laughed together at how hard he tried. Then one day, the rooster surprised her with a perfectly loud “Cock-a-doodle-doo!”—only to go completely silent for two whole weeks afterward. The moment she mentioned this to me, right away I told her, “There is a story here.” My daughter reported to me a couple weeks later though that sure enough, her male Easter Egger began crowing up a storm everyday. Rudy, and his journey was inspired by the life of Roo. So, this story evolved to tell this rooster's story and how through his adolescence, he grew to realize his purpose and the importance of using his special gift of crowing. This is a reminder to young and old. Find your purpose in life and your voice. Use it unafraid and step into your destiny. The world needs each one of you. --Christie Marie
