Description
Sarah Penny arrives by stage in Filmont from unknown parts. By coincidence, Stuttering Jake Trapper also arrives to buy supplies for a small mining camp south of Filmont. Then Dan the gambler shows up in his wagon with five women who have lost their husbands and families due to the Civil War.
When Jake tells Sarah there are eighty-five men and no women in the mining camp, Sarah comes up with a plan. With Dan and the women Sarah follows Jake to the tent city in search of her own treasure. Within a year the five women are married, Sarah builds a saloon, and the tent city becomes the simple little town of Simon. However, not all stories are destined to continue happily ever after.
Sarah's saloon brings alcohol, gambling, and prostitution to the town. This results in selfishness and betrayal plus a couple of murders. Eventually the pain of Sarah Penny's past, her refusal to admit her sins, and the inability to forgive comes back to haunt her. She knows she must find a way to end this downward spiral.
