Description
The Statue of Liberty is one of the most recognizable symbols of the United States. An enormous monument to democracy, it was a gift from France, a country that hoped for a government as successful as America's. Many immigrants to the United States during the 19th and 20th centuries sailed beneath the Statue's torch.
