In 1988 I penned the first edition of my book, The 10 Most Common Estate Planning Mistakes and How to Avoid Them. The mistakes have changed somewhat through the years, but the premise of properly planning the disposition of one’s estate has always been a consistent theme. Considering that 72% of America’s affluent DO NOT have a concrete estate plan, pre-determining who gets what, when they get it and how they get it, most Americans are woefully unprepared for their inevitable departure. Since there have been massive changes to the estate and retirement planning laws since my third edition, I decided to produce an UPDATED fourth edition. Given the pending TAX DOOMSDAY of December 31, 2024, I believe the content is not only pertinent but also up-to-date and necessary.
