This book is a collection of meditations partly inspired by and partly in response to Nietzsche's Thus Spake Zarathustra. The will, the power, the wisdom, and the intensity called for in Nietzsche's book is revealed in a paradoxical and mysterious way on the Cross. Each meditation draws inspiration from some passage in the Bible, literature, philosophy or Nietzsche's own work, but all these perspectives serve as various lenses through which the author asks the reader to gaze on the Cross. The Cross is the center and meaning of all things and the greatest revelation of the heart of God. This book looks at the Cross from a kaleidoscopic series of perspectives and settings. Each Meditation has been paired with a painting and also is followed by a brief explanation of the meditation and a commentary on the artwork. Overall, this book seeks to provide a deeper encounter with the Passion of Jesus Christ. Matt D'Antuono is a physics teacher, PhD candidate in philosophy, father of 9, husband, and associate of the Community of the Friars of the Renewal. Rev. Br. John Paul Puschautz, OP, is a Dominican from the Western Province and a transitional deacon. He wrote his Licentiate in Sacred Theology (STL) thesis on Visio Divina with the Art of Fra Angelico.
