Uncommon conservation: the story of saving Grass River : Grass River Natural Area, the heart of the chain of lakes, Antrim County Michigan

"Uncommon Conservation, The Story of Saving Grass River chronicles the origins of one of Michigan's oldest and largest nature preserves. In an era that predated heightened environmental consciousness, a handful of visionaries -- that soon grew to hundreds -- have achieved national recognition as the 'Grass River Model.' These volunteer activists protected an irreplaceable resource for the good of nature and community. This collective accomplishment is a roadmap for future environmental stewards committed to enriching lives and ensuring the permanence of the natural world."--P. [4] of cover.
