Lost in Sweden, found in Brazil. A young man's search for direction takes him across the globe to a vibrant new life. He finds purpose, joy, a dachshund, friendships, despair and a young woman from the interior of Bahia who has run off to a bigger city with her friends. This intimate biographical romcom explores the cultural differences between Brazil and Sweden and how love conquers all barriers. It is a reminder that beauty and joy can be found everywhere. Some journeys takes you across borders while others go way beyond. This is a collection of episodes that mostly happened while I was living in Brazil. These are my impressions of a country so rich in culture and history. It is not a scientific study, or a promotional text to increase tourism. The objective is to tickle and amuse, not anything else. All this took place in the late 1990s and many things have changed since then, some for the better and some for the worse. Nothing will alter my immense respect and love for the country, its people, and culture—even as this book pokes fun at certain things and points out what can appear weird and strange. It is only my reflection, as I perceived it from my angle and background. It does not take away my love for a country and a people just because there are things worth laughing at. The beauty of Brazil is in the absurd, the different, the unusual, and the laughter. Do not let anyone take that away, because with that, the soul of the nation disappears.
