Who I Was, Who I Am, Who I Will Be

Prayer is one of the most talked about subjects yet one of the least practiced in routine. It is vital, essential and mandatory that each and every one of us not only know of prayer but live the life of prayer mentioned in I Thessalonians 5:17, where it admonishes us to pray without ceasing. So many of us have witnessed people praying, we’ve attended prayer meetings and even been invited to be a part of prayer chains, and with all of that at times prayer seems to be a difficult feat. Not because we don’t know the semantics of prayer, on the contrary we have the verbiage and the church lingo down. We have heard words masterfully pieced together, producing a melodious sound that would impress the average man. All of that is well and good but when it comes to the nitty gritty, most of us don’t pray consistently because it would appear at times that God is just not interested in answering. However, without sounding brass or insensitive, most of us don’t receive answers because we don’t approach God the right way. There is a strategy to prayer One of the most important things to know about prayer is that if you don’t pray (talk to him) you don’t know what He’s saying. Through His word is how he speaks but in prayer is where he confirms. You must first believe that what you’re praying for will be answered, but most importantly, your posture, presentation and stance must be correct and sure....... This is not a churchy/religious kind of thinking but think of it from a life perspective. If you go to the courthouse and you need the judge to rule in your favor, you dress the part, make sure your presentation is correct and even practice what you may say. When you go to the police department to talk to the chief, you make sure that you present your best so you can get the help that you need. It’s the same way with God, when we come to Him, we have to present ourselves in a manner that we respect and honor him for the Lord God that he is. Not treating him like a pimp, only coming to him when we want something, but on the contrary, we should be conferring with him constantly so that he knows that it’s relationship and his heart that we want and not just His hand and His benefits.
