Description
Steve Backus is nothing less than a folk hero in these parts; an intrepid artist, an indomitable spirit, not to mention one of the kindest human beings you are likely to meet, a man who would literally give you the chain off his saw.
I’m not sure I’ve ever met an individual as indispensable to his community than Steve is to the carving community, something I’ve witnessed firsthand over the past twenty-five years, as Steve has time and again put the health and welfare of the carver community above his own needs or profit.
Steve is the ultimate impresario, part storyteller, part historian, part clown, and part action hero. His stories are full of heart, hilarity, history, and you’ll be a better person having read them.
