A History and Bibliography of a Roycroft Printing Shop - 5119

Ten years have passed since the publication of the first edition of this work. The Arts and Crafts Movement has continued to attract new col-lectors, some more history has been recorded and the Roycroft artifacts have been getting the attention they have long deserved. This second edition is a response to the inquiries that started during the last year. I hadn't intended to do this second edition but there was no other book on the printing shop available to collectors. The first editions were commanding premium prices on the out-of-print market when they could be located and few copies were being found at prices under seventy-five dollars. The additions and corrections noted in this edition of the bibliography were forwarded by interested dealers and collectors. I especially thank Jay T. Johnson of Dallas for his major contributions. I really thought we would find many more limited editions but they remain mysteries-much to my surprise. When I finished the first edition it was offered as the beginning of a continuing search for the missing editions and a text to record corrections to the bibliography. No pertinent new information of the major Roycroft personnel has been uncovered. I still treat the material produced after 1915 as relatively minor again in this edition but can now offer some information on the subject matter of the post 1915 books. Many are on occult or non-conformist religions. Jon Weekly of Mahoney and Weekly Booksellers shed light on these Roycroft printings.
