This historical novel examines the interesting Civil War career of General Abner Doubleday. It also puts to rest the long-time contention that it was Abner Doubleday who invented baseball in Cooperstown, New York. It isn't that far fetched to have believed up until now that Doubleday was the one and only inventor. In 1907, the Mills Commission officially ruled that Doubleday invented baseball in 1839.
