Patrick Waddick was born in Invercargill, New Zealand, in 1927 and moved to the USA in 1958. He started his own construction business in California, building Bob's Big Boys, Dennys, and Norms restaurants, along with many other projects. During his life, he wrote biographical stories about his adventures as a Merchant Marine, a stunt man in the Gold Coast Airshow, and as Captain Pat, sailing halfway around the world with an ever-changing crew of ocean hitchhikers. Three of the four of the boats he built himself were shipwrecked, and he details these harrowing events with vivid unease. Patrick lived life to the fullest. He was a true adventurer and free spirit. Patrick passed away in 2013 in Texas. These stories have been collected and edited by his daughter, Jane WK.
