Topanga Canyon has always been a magnet for artists on the outskirts of Los Angeles. French painter Paul Dubosclard (1892-1974), inventor of breakthrough airplane designs during World War II, created a series of silk-screen postcards called Along the Malibuthat reflects the splendor of the Canyon and Southern California, from Santa Monica to Santa Barbara. He also produced other series depicting The Zodiac, the US Presidents, and State Flags. Because he rarely signed his postcards, many are incorrectly attributed to his publisher M.A. Sheehan (Margaret Sheehan). John Brewer tells the story of Paul's remarkable life, and presents all the postcards for the first time.
