Joanne Johnson was elated when she gave birth to her first child, Joey. Soon after she learned that he was afflicted with a progressive brain disorder called Adrenoleukodystrophy. Her joy soon changed to sadness when she discovered that he would be deaf, blind, and unable to walk. He has taken her on a different journey, An Imperfect Journey. Joanne has lived in Massachusetts for 36 years with her husband, Joe, and her sons, Joey and Matthew. This is a work of heartfelt and intense feelings experienced during her life raising a special needs child for 35 years.
