Anchored is the final devotional installment of the GROW Devotional Pathway. The intent of this journey is to encourage the reader to look beyond the text into the heart and attributes of God to see the fundamentals of the faith. An anchor is an essential device that secures a ship to the bottom of a body of water to prevent it from drifting due to wind and currents. It brings stability in the midst of storms and rough waters to protect all who are onboard. In doctrine, God has given His people an anchor to see them through the storms and rough waters of life so that they might not be swept away by the gale-force winds and currents that attend their way as they live in a fallen, sin-sick world. These doctrines are the fundamental elements upon which everything else is built. They are the essentials that can never be ignored or displaced because they are critical to everything else. Take for example reading. Basic to reading is knowing the alphabet. The better a person knows and understands the alphabet, the more adept they will become at using words and language to communicate with others. Such is true as it pertains to the fundamentals of one’s faith. While it is imperative to know WHAT you believe, it is equally important to know WHY you believe it. Doctrine is the basis of answering the WHY. In doctrine, we discover those fundamental teachings and concepts upon which faith is built that enable us to dive deeper into the Scripture, and into life, as these truths serve as an anchor for our soul. Over the next 12 weeks, you are invited to dive into the Scriptures to wrestle with these faith fundamentals. To endeavor into multiple passages of Scripture to consider the core doctrines of the Christian faith. Who is God? Who is Jesus? What is the ministry of the Holy Spirit? Why is the Bible relevant and important?
