Disciple Them: A Discipleship Workbook To Help Our Kids Walk With Jesus - 1772

As we listened to a sermon on 1 John 2, the pastor read verse 14, “I write to you, dear children, because you know the Father”, we sensed the Holy Spirit prompting us to write some truths and wisdom based on God’s Word to our children. We have taught and modeled most of these lessons to them in various ways at different moments in their lives. Our desire in writing this book is to give our kids more than practical information and advice but a biblical framework they can reference and reuse in their lives and their own parenting one day. As parents, we want more for them than to have a good education and be good people. It’s our greatest desire in life that they know and walk with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit relationally – intimately. It can be challenging (but possible) for every believer “to shine like stars” in a “crooked and perverse generation” (Philippians 2:15). We must disciple our children to “hold firmly to the Word of life” (2:16). We pray our kids would teach these to their kids (in their own way) and the discipleship cycle would continue for many generations until the Lord’s return. We also want this to be a book other parents can use to teach their children to “love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength and love their neighbor as themselves” (Matthew 22:37-39). As Christian parents, we are entrusted by God to disciple our children in the Word, will, and ways of the Lord, whatever their ages and in all their stages. To sum up this book in one sentence, We’d say, “Children, keep loving, living, and looking to Jesus for everything!”
