Faith Diving: A Progressive Lutheran Confirmation Curriculum - 9130

This is a different kind of confirmation curriculum. It was written to put the challenges, questions, hard to answer situations in front of our youth as they go through a confirmation class, instead of waiting until they are older and on their own to struggle through life's most difficult questions. This curriculum, called Faith Diving, is a three year curriculum with 16 class sessions per year. It is meant to take the youth from conversations about God in general, to conversations about God in Christianity, to conversations about God in Lutheranism and other religions. This confirmation curriculum is built to make the youth ask questions and provide their own answers. It is built to somewhat address the parts of our faith we don’t always get into. Just as diving from up high can be scary, so too can be faith diving. But with a loving leader to guide them through the process, even the most terrifying waters can become a grand adventure. Through the use of games, experiential events, multimedia, and nearly every other possible interactive element this curriculum seeks to teach all the “standard” pieces of confirmation while giving the youth every opportunity to gain the answers they need to face this truly complicated world that we live in. It was written by an ELCA (Lutheran) pastor with a Lutheran setting in mind, but it can easily be made workable in any number of other situations.
