Vince Canaugh is a private investigator, formerly a Minneapolis cop, and before that a pitcher in minor league baseball who spent eight years trying to reach the majors. Canaugh, though recently retired, accepts an assignment from the Minnesota Twins to discover if one of their players is possibly cheating.
