Our God created mankind to live in His fullness. When Adam and Eve sinned, it caused the world to have a need for resources. As the world draws and drains resources from our lives, it causes physical, spiritual, and soulish needs. Each of us have a physical need to breath; we have a need for water; we have a need to eat. If we do not breath oxygen, drink water or eat food, we will be in need. If the need is not filled, we will die. In his book, Jesus the Filler of Our Needs, Rick Sizemore points out how this world seeks to create “soulish needs.” At some point in our lives, all of us will have a need for love, identity, acceptance, intimacy, purpose, security, worth, forgiveness and/or the need to be needed. In the same way we must have our physical needs filled to live, we must have our soulish needs filled also. Jesus Christ came to bring fullness to a world filled with lack. One of the soulish needs this world seeks to create in us is the need for identity. Since Adam and Eve sinned, mankind has been searching for an identity. Mankind’s confusion about their identity has caused numerous wars and conflicts. Whether individuals live in victory or defeat is determined by their identify. Jesus Christ came into this world to give us an identity; therefore, empowering us to overcome the world’s distractions and obstacles to our faith.
