PHONICS SKILLS:
Blends: A blend is two consonants in a row. Each consonant says its own name. An example is sp in spot.
Digraphs: A digraph is two letters in a row that make one sound. Some examples are: sh in ship and ck in back.
Long vowel words with silent e at the end. Examples would be: cake (a) and bike (i).

PHONICS SKILLS:

Vowel teams: Two or more vowels in a row that make one sound. such as ai in paid.
Diphthongs: A diphthong is when two vowels make two sounds as they glide together. For example oi in oil.
