Mathematical Olympiads for Schoolchildren 2 - Second Grade: First Round (Problems and Solutions) The Saint Petersburg Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary School are open mathematical Olympiads for students from 1st to 4th grade of elementary school with the aim that as many children as possible discover the wonderful world of mathematics and learn what is the joy of discovery and the taste of victory when solving a difficult task. They have been held every year in the city of Saint Petersburg since 2015. Being the main building of the “Peter The Great” Polytechnic University its current headquarters. As of 2018, due to the large number of participants, a first qualifying round began to be held and later a second round or final round, both consisting of a written exam. Likewise, the problems included here correspond to the first round of these Olympiads for the 2nd grade of elementary school. In this problem book has been compiled all the Olympiads held during the years 2018-2022 and is especially aimed at schoolchildren between 6 and 7 years old, with the aim that the students interested either in preparing for a math competition or simply in practicing entertaining problems to improve their math skills, challenge themselves to solve these interesting problems. Likewise, it can also be useful for teachers, parents, and math study circles. The book has been divided into four sections so that the student can use it in the best possible way. The first section includes a list of all the problems for each exam. The second section includes the problems with adequate space so that the student can solve each problem with great comfort. The third section includes a list of all the problems with their respective answers. Finally, the fourth and last section includes the problems of each exam with their respective answers and detailed solutions. Each exam includes a set of 10 problems from different school math topics. To be able to face these problems successfully, no greater knowledge is required than that covered in the school curriculum; however, many of these problems require an ingenious approach to be tackled successfully. Students are encouraged to keep trying to solve each problem as a personal challenge, as many times as necessary; and to parents who continue to support their children in their disciplined preparation.
