This book is written with sincere pain, the same pain every migrant felt when leaving their homeland. But equally, it is written with hope, the same hope that strengthens those who seek a better future in this great country. The idea of writing was born not only because I have lived this reality but because I have lived here with thousands of immigrants who, like me, left our country of origin hoping for a better life. It is, therefore, a sad book because it presents the loneliness and suffering of many, but in the same way, it is a hopeful book because it reflects the dreams and illusions of many others. Thus, Migrante aims to make you witness everything that you have forgotten or wish to forget, that is, the daily anguish of people who fight to belong to a place from which they feel rejected. As Migrante, it is pure journalism, and "journalism precedes history." I wish that these lives are read with Soul so that they are not forgotten so that they leave their mark on you. I desire to reflect on how migration has marked each interviewee's life, identity, and personality. If it is partly true that the central theme is migration, the attentive reader will find subtopics in each testimony that will make them see the migrant reality from other perspectives. This perspectivism will bring you closer to the phenomenon of immigration and, therefore, to a better understanding of human beings. And since all our lives are somewhat similar, don't be surprised that you find something of yours in these interviews. And if you read something that you experienced similar or the same as that of a migrant, remember that we are all brothers of the same pain or the same hope because you, like us, have also crossed certain borders.
