Over the past decade, Kwame Kilpatrick has been incarcerated for more than nine years. He has been chained like a wild animal, shackled around his ankles, waist, and wrists with a black box to keep his hands at his side on many occasions. He has spent more than nine-months in solitary confinement at different periods during his journey, simply because prison staff wanted him there. But these and other experiences have provoked him to be doggedly determined to help others get off the bed of suicide, off the floor of despair, out of the tomb of calamity, and walk courageously and powerfully into their new seasons of life. Yes, if the ride to the ditch was the end of the story, it would be an interesting tale of stupidity, pride, and sinful pleasures. It might be entertaining. But it would not inspire or provoke others to rise up from their own mental, emotional, and physical prisons. We are living in times when humanity needs to see hope, see redemption, and see victory with their own eyes, or from their own vantage points. Our souls crave to see a sermon in the life of a human-being. The sermon of a life that powerfully develops the overcoming spirit through great difficulties. Kwame Kilpatrick has emerged as that voice. His life has become that sermon. After leaving prison from a solitary confinement cell, on January 20, 2021, Kwame Kilpatrick is now remarried and has launched a national ministry; Movemental Ministries. He is preaching and speaking throughout the country, God’s message of redemption, restoration, and returning back to the destiny that He has for each one of us. While preaching a sermon to nearly a thousand people at the Historic Little Rock church in Detroit, on June 11, 2021, Kwame boldly proclaimed, “It’s not time to die! It’s time to live.” Kwame Kilpatrick is no longer bound by protocol, politics, people, or prison. By the grace of God, he is free indeed. He is on the journey back to destiny!
