In my first two books, you learned how to improve performance by increasing mental toughness and happiness. In this book, I advise you to top up the combined mental toughness and happiness approach with an arguably more advanced method: a conscious effort to increase the number of flow experiences you have. In particular, I will introduce you to a three-part technique that increases the likelihood of flow, summed up by my acronym RAP (Ready, Attention, Positive) and explain how to do these three techniques. The three sections of this book detail advanced and complementary ways to do this. Section One, which focuses on improving the R (Ready) in RAP, discusses how to focus on doing things that provide more than a placebo effect, how to be more conscientious, and how to be more proactive. Section Two focuses on the A (Attention) in RAP and emphasizes concentration and routines. Section Three focuses on the P (Positive) in RAP and emphasizes thinking big; designing your own mission, vision, purpose, motto, and exciting elevator speech; and using healthy time management practices. This book builds on from my first two books and thus is more challenging. Undoubtedly, many readers will find the implications of Chapter 1 (Don’t be a sucker) extremely challenging. Therein lies its power! Parents, coaches, and managers will like Chapters 2 (Be conscientious) and 3 (Be proactive) as they will learn how to implement and teach DAG (make Daily plans, make yourself Accountable, and write down three Good things that happened during the day) and DARTS (regularly Deposit proactive initiatives into your Success Account, Act quickly, Remove distractions, set Timelines, and Split tasks into parts). As a result, they and their respective children, athletes, and workers will become more efficient, organized, and self-disciplined, and thus do better professionally and psychologically. Experts will probably appreciate Chapter 5 (Use routines) the most, as it explains how to create effective, individual-specific pre-performance routines and post-performances routines with five decisions, ECG, and five tips, that minimize decision-making, create ideal mindsets, and ultimately produce long-term performance improvement. Read and then implement the information and techniques provided in all three books and you will increase the frequency that you perform phenomenally.
