Samuel Morris: His Continuing Spirit-Inspired Mission - 2630

A game-changing educational model of computer-based learning is being developed by Innovative Education International and its partners in a remote county in southeastern Liberia. The inspiration for this program is Samuel Kaboo Morris, a village boy who grew up in that remote region over a century ago. He miraculously escaped from a war-like enemy tribe, came to faith in Christ and found his way to America in 1891. Morris became a student at Taylor University in Indiana and by his Spirit-filled life and vibrant faith brought revival to the campus. For decades after his untimely death, the telling of Samuel Morris' story impacted the spread of the gospel in Africa, and sparked a movement in the 21st century to make his story, spiritual devotion and passion for learning known in his homeland recovering from years of devastating civil war. This is being achieved through the deployment of the SmartBox, a portable "instant wireless classroom" of 20 laptops that delivers a vast array of educational and Biblical content to a room full of students in even the most primitive and resource-starved environments. Interest in the SmartBox, once limited to Liberia, is becoming worldwide. All proceeds will be used to support the ongoing world-wide legacy of Samuel Morris through Innovative Education International and Taylor University.
