In 1913 the European world was drifting toward “war”. Human population had increased, technology improved. The result of this unnecessary conflict was millions of humans died or were wounded. The destruction of cities was on a scale never seen before. In the 1930s the Western World and Asia were once again drifting toward “war”. Not having learned the lessons from Europe’s first attempt at mass suicide, millions of humans died, or were wounded. More cities were burned to the ground. Apparently, our species are slow learners. Once again, the Western World and Asia are drifting toward a third and final “world war”. Except unlike the prior to attempts at human mass suicide, nuclear technology will make this last attempt successful. Unless we immediately change direction, billions of humans, plants, and animals will be slaughtered. This final “third world war” will mean the end of human civilization. This book advocates a paradigm shift. Space and Ocean Exploration is the alternative to a third and final “world war”. We don’t have to like each other and probably never will. The cultural animosities that have roots going back thousands of years are not expected to suddenly disappear because of necessity. But like each other or not, we have to work together to solve our massive environmental problems.
