Five friends struggle with identity and the complexity of early adulthood in the Summer of 1996. Set in a small Southern town where nothing grows or changes, the friends meet every weekend without fail, hoping to escape the monotony by getting lost in a private world they have created together. But a chain of events causes unexpected repercussions within the group as secrets are revealed and long-awaited truths emerge. Spiderflies is told through the eyes of Sadie Mays, a twenty-one-year-old in a curiously rocky relationship with the brooding Joe. An unraveling web of issues is soon complicated by fragile friendships and destructive tendencies, leading the group toward a downward spiral.
