This book contains 10 scripted lessons covering 8 state standards that any ELA teacher can easily use. The texts used are engaging, level-appropriate, and applicable to each particular standard. My philosophy is that if we can teach students the necessary skills with content that is interesting to them, they will be able to apply those skills to any reading required by the state. I have provided all the handouts you will need for a successful lesson, including explanations of each standard with visuals when relevant. It contains detailed lesson instructions to go with everything a new teacher needs to successfully complete a T-Tess evaluation or any other state mandated evaluation. The lessons are set up in the “I Do, We Do, You Do” format. As a bonus, I included higher-level thinking questions and activities that I created to go with most of the stories and poems so that the students can have extra practice identifying literary devices and determining the author’s purpose. The bonus section in the back of the book is included to provide teachers with extra activities to enhance student engagement.
