Causing panic in the community, local farmer John Proctor tries to expose the lies behind the accusations, but his wife Elizabeth is accused by his ex-lover Abigail William. In the end, Proctor was sentenced to death. But chose to die with honesty rather than accepting a lie. The play criticizes the destructive power of fear and groupthink.
