The Grandfather of American Tea: My Story - 8706

"The Grandfather of American Tea” is quite assuming and presumptuous. I was called that by a tea distributor over twenty years ago. There are over 100 tea makers in America now that I do not know, and they have never heard of me, but I believe my farm is older than most. As you “gotta be self-promoting and blow your own horn” in this world, I have used that name. This work is more of a memoir, a journal, almost a diary of what I had done over the years. It is not a how to book but, a what I have done book. There are several books out there, such as the profound and well researched and expertly written “Grow Your Own Tea” by my friends Susan Walcott and Christine Parks. After so many years of thinking about tea, studying it, communicating with the few others in the industry about it and the endless experiments, I thought I may need to record what I have done. As I seem to have no understudy lined up to take my place, this seemed to promote this work. I want to record my years of work with tea for anyone who may find it interesting.
