As Mac McGuire, a former Navy SEAL officer, mourns the loss of his young wife, he recalls the days of his SEAL training and dangerous missions before and during his courtship and marriage. Unbeknownst to Mac, during those same years a ruthless man in Cairo is devising villainous plans involving Milan, Rome and the Vatican. Returning to Malta as a civilian, Mac’s life is marked by a series of violent killings which appear initially unrelated, but soon point to a looming international crisis. That threat, Mac realizes, is a terrorist plot to assassinate the Pope. With only a few hours’ grace on Easter Sunday, Mac must fly from Malta to the Vatican to prevent what only he believes will occur.
