The Work is Plentiful, But Positive Male Role Models are Few is a book written to encourage men to return to and remain engaged in the important role of mentoring. It discusses the challenges our communities are facing due to the lack of positive male role models who can guide and mentor young men in the way they should go. Proverbs 22:6 explains it this way in the New International Version of the Bible: "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it." I have taken out the time to get it from the horse’s mouth as the older generation use to say, by interviewing men, women, and young people in our communities. My hope is to break down the barriers that exist between men and our young men/boys. I have also drawn from trustworthy and reliable resources, such as books and other credible studies, to provide evidence for why I believe the work to recapture the minds of our young men remains so plentiful. The importance of positive male role models is evident, and according to statistics, the number of men stepping forward to make a difference in young people’s lives has declined. The task of changing and restoring the lives of young men/boys in our communities today is overwhelming but not unattainable. The time is now—if not now, then when?
